Card Club June 18, 2009 - Theme: Anything

Good Morning and Happy Friday. Last night was card club and our theme was anything. We did some great new techniques last night that I think everyone enjoyed. Sue R. created this cute little owl (top left) by using the top notch die cut and a number of other punches. Marilyn created this colorful flowering card (top right). We used colored pencils and embellished with some dimensional flowers. Terry created this very cool origami shirt (bottom left). We all got the chance to use the Scor-pal and try out the art of paper folding. the deign was finished off with some coordinating buttons. Sue M. created this red, white and blue card (bottom center) - Fourth of July if just around the corner and is perfect for any type of patriotic event/need. Gloria created this s'mores birthday card (bottom right). We used prismacolor pencils and gamsol on this one to created some great colored effects on the stamped images. Well folks, that's all for now. Hope you have a great day.

Happy Bird-Day

Today's card is inspired by a card done over at More Paper Please. I really toned down the card a lot as I thought it was super busy and wanted the focus to be the cute little birds. I created the birds in Illustrator and exported the file to my Silhouette cutter. I think I spent about 3 hours just assembling the birds. Very happy with this one. It will also serve as a card for a birthday coming up this weekend for my boyfriends mother. I think she'll like it. Saturday we leave for the beach in North Carolina and then to Pennsylvania so I'll be gone for two weeks so needless to say I won't be posting much if anything :-( At any rate happy Wednesday folks!

Tote Bag

Hello. Today, I spent the bulk of the creating this little beauty. I just love it. This is my very first handmade tote bag. Sure there were a few oops with the sewing of it but I don't think anyone can tell unless I pointed them out. So, should I make it again at least I know what NOT to do. I really like the colors a lot and think the dragonfly button set was perfect for the outside pocket. Thanks for looking.

Color Inspiration #54

Happy Friday Everyone! Over at Kristina Werner's blog she's posted another Color Inspiration Challenge. Our colors to use were: teal, sky blue, pumpkin, green galore and white. So here is my take on the challenge. It's pretty simple but, I think it turned out pretty good. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend.

Happy Father's Day Slider Card

Today's card is the Father's Day card that I made for my Dad. I turned this on into a slider card the little dog bone will slide from side to side. This is created using two pennies mounted with some foam adhesive. I also used my Versamark marker to make the little watermark paw prints in the background. The entire front of the card was mounted with foam dimensional to allow the slider to move. This card is also part of the challenge on Kitchen Sink Stamps, we are to decorate the corners and I think this fits that challenge perfectly.

Coffee Break Scrapbook Page

Today, I recycled some of old newspaper for background artwork for this page. Jim is taking a quick coffee break with a busy New York businessman in NYC just outside the World Trade Center location. I just love this page! Hope you enjoy and Happy Monday.

Papaya King Scrapbook Page

While in NYC in January Jim and I came upon this unique store front. The place is called Papaya King and I've never seen anything similar anywhere. I snap this picture to remind me of our visit to the city. Only new thing I've used are these mulberry flowers for some added dimension. Have a great weekend.

Card Club June 4 : Graduation

Last night was card club and our theme was Graduation. Here is what we all came up with. (Top left) Sue created, she designed it to be done using some really cool graduation ribbon in a criss-cross pattern we then finished it off with two stamped images that we punched out. (Top right) Terry created this one which had lots of embossing and cutting. We used the Nestabilities to cut out and emboss the oval and scallop. This was a challenge in and of itself, lol. (Bottom left) Sue designed this card which had a good bit of heat embossing. The card was then finished off a paper crimped band and brad. (Bottom center) Sue created this one using lots of layers. The design was finished off with some stars to pull the two colors together for this final card. (Bottom right) Gloria created, the black part was embossed with the Cuttlebug and then finished off with some square brads that we turned end to end. Thanks for looking and happy Friday!

KS Crew Monday Challenge #14

Hi there. Today's card is for my submission for the KS Crew Monday Challenge #14. The idea is to "Go Green" by using something you may have normally thrown in the trash for a craft project. My item that I reused was aluminum foil. I ran the foil through a Cuttlebug folder with embossing ink inside so it would have a "sticky" surface for me to apply the embossing powder after I took out of the Cuttlebug. The foil took the embossing powder and heat rather well. Actually better than I thought it would. The only problem was the foil is very thin and can rip in places. But, overall I like the technique. Not sure if I created a new technique or not but it's not something I've read about. Thanks for stopping by.
